Use this set of pictures to enhance your Mac OS 8 experience.
Introduction:
Apple's new system upgrade (Mac OS 8) now allows you to set a desktop picture which allows you to customize
your desktop background. After installing Mac OS 8, you get some pictures you can use as desktop pictures...
All of those suck (except perhaps fot the 'Mac OS Background' picture which is probably the only tasteful one).
So I decided to do a set of my own. Now, I know many pictures as these are spread in all major Macintosh internet
archives, but i decided to post these anyway. You tell me if I did well.
Installation:
This set consists of 2 picture files:
1. StartupScreen: Put this in the System Folder and it will load at startup. You'll no longer have the Mac OS picture
with the startup status bar, but who cares, anyway!?
2. Desktop OS 8•Red: You can put this file practily anywhere, but i suggest you create a folder called Desktop
Pictures inside your System Folder and place it there. Then go to Desktop Pictures Control Panel, select Picture
button, remove the picture previously set (in case there is any) and set this one.
3. Suggestion: Set your Appearance Accent Color according to the name of the Desktop Picture you're chosen. It will look much better (well, it does for me!).
Version History:
Version 2.0 - Set of 18 Desktop Pictures to go with every Appearance Accent Color. All files have Balloon Help support
(yes, I've always thought Balloon Help was probably the most useless feature in Mac OS, but now with the
Mac OS 8 Secret Finder Features you can turn it on and off by just pressing CTRL + SHIFT, so sometimes it
comes very handy!).
Also, redone the StartupScreen, making it cleaner and faster to load.
Version 1.1 - Added Ballon Help/Extensions Manager support with description, installation guide and my email.
Also, set version number and author strings. Yeah, i know this is no special update, but i kinda had fun
doing it! 8-)
Version 1.0 - First version of all. No special deal, just two pictures!
Future…
New Desktop Pictures coming up soon!
